In phase I of our work, the focus is on open research. Thus we were able to win experts from the fields of sociology, ethnology, theater studies, who discussed the topic with us. Further discussion rounds are still on the agenda. The findings will be implemented through artistry and object theater with techniques of contemporary circus (supported by the DAKU #takeaction fund).
Phase II investigates the effects in urban space, in places and non-places, in nature and very real places to further explore the interaction space – performance. (a grant from the Kulturreferat München has been applied for).
In Phase III, the project will be transferred to the digital space. A three-week intensification phase is planned in order to condense all the areas learned and researched and compress them into a piece. We want to make “critical SpaCeS” a three-dimensional experience by creating a digital space, a digital theater, in which the piece can be experienced by spectators worldwide. The visitors will be given the opportunity to interactively co-determine the surroundings via avatars. There will be variable parameters such as different lighting moods, rooms or sound carpets. These can be freely selected by the visitors. In the center of the digital theater is a pyramid into which the viewers can look, but the artists cannot look out. The audience can walk around the pyramid in the form of avatars and experience the pre-recorded performance from different angles. Access is made possible by a symbolic payment of 1,-€ (application with #takepart).
Phase IV will take place after the pandemic has subsided. Performances in theaters and museums are planned for this. The planned presentation venues in 2022 are Theater HochX, Haus der Kunst in Munich and the Alte Münze in Berlin.
